Man arrested after Portland police building vandalized

A man was arrested on allegations of felony criminal mischief after three large window panels were destroyed at the Portland Police Bureau’s East Precinct early Saturday morning.

Shortly after midnight, two sergeants heard banging noises from the front of the building at 737 S.E. 106th Ave. They found a suspect, later identified as Keith Ryan Morris, 39, hitting the glass doors with a large rock, according to a news release from the police bureau.

Morris ran away from the building but surrendered when he realized he was not going to elude the officers, according to police.

Morris did not have a known address but had identification from Arizona. He was arrested on allegations of criminal mischief in the first degree, escape in the third degree and a probation detainer.

The broken windows were covered with plywood. Police say the cost of the damage is not known yet.
